How We Collect and/or Obtain Information

We collect information in the following ways:

Directly from you, when you voluntarily submit it through a form on our website, make an online payment or donation, contact us by phone or email, or provide it to a staff member in person.

Verbal consent for text messaging. We collect mobile phone numbers for SMS/text messaging only when you give us verbal consent, either in person or by phone. Before adding your number, we tell you the name of our organization, the types of messages we will send, that message and data rates may apply, that message frequency may vary, that you may reply HELP for help or STOP at any time to unsubscribe, and that your phone number will not be shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We record the date and time of your consent.

Automatically, through cookies placed on your device when you visit this website.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

Process payments and donations you initiate.

Provide, coordinate, and follow up on the services and programs you participate in.

Respond to your questions, requests, and service requests, including by text message where you have consented.

Send you organizational updates, special event invitations, and information about fundraising campaigns, where you have elected to receive them. If you do not elect to receive such materials, we will not send them to you.

Operate, maintain, and improve this website.   Comply with applicable law.

Text Messaging (SMS/MMS)

Where you have given consent, RFL sends customer care and support text messages, such as confirmations that a staff member has received your message, and information about which staff member to contact when your usual contact is unavailable. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we do not use text messaging to solicit donations.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of text messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact us using the information at the end of this policy. Opting out of text messages will not affect your access to any RFL service or program.

Information We Share

Companies may be engaged by RFL to perform a variety of functions, such as assisting with donation collection or providing technical services for our websites. These companies may have access to personal information only if it is needed to perform such functions, may use that information only for the purpose of performing that function, and may not use it for any other purpose.

Other than as described in this policy, RFL does not sell, rent, trade, transfer, or otherwise disclose personal information to third parties.

No phone/mobile number information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

RFL reserves the right to use or disclose information as needed to satisfy any law, regulation, or legal request, to protect the integrity of this site, to fulfill your requests, or to cooperate in any law enforcement investigation or an investigation on a matter of public safety.

Information Security and Data Retention

RFL maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Access to personal information is limited to staff and contractors who need it to perform their duties. Payment card information is handled by our payment processor under its own security controls.

We retain personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Text messaging opt-in records and consent logs are retained for the duration of your enrollment in our text messaging program and for a reasonable period afterward in order to document consent. When you opt out of text messaging, we retain a record of the opt-out so that we do not message you again.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

At any time you may ask us to correct the personal information we hold about you, change your contact preferences, or stop contacting you, by using the contact information below.
